The best installation method depends on the impact level, temperature, and equipment structure of your application. At Firstar, we offer three main fixing solutions to ensure maximum protection for your machinery:
1. Weld-on Ceramic Liners (With Metal Inserts):
Best For: High-impact and high-vibration areas like chutes and bins in the mining industry.
Advantage: These liners are secured by welding a metal plug through a pre-formed hole in the ceramic, then covered with a ceramic cap. It provides the strongest mechanical bond, capable of withstanding extreme mechanical stress and temperatures above 250°C.
2. Adhesive Bonding (Epoxy Resin):
Best For: Low-impact environments or complex shapes like pipes, elbows, and cyclones where space is limited.
Advantage: This method uses high-strength epoxy adhesive to bond the ceramic directly to the steel surface. It is cost-effective, easy to install for maintenance teams, and ideal for systems handling fine particles or slurry.
3. Bolt-on / Stud Welding:
Best For: Equipment where liners need to be replaced frequently or where welding on the substrate is restricted.
Advantage: Ceramic tiles are integrated into a rubber or steel backing with pre-installed studs. This allows for quick "plug and play" replacement, significantly reducing downtime during maintenance shutdowns.
